Yes, I haven't been blogging this summer mostly because I haven't been riding this summer! I know it's hard to believe that Big Mel of BigMelonCycling.com wouldn't be riding his bike, but it's true. The week before my favorite ride ... The Tour de Donut in Staunton, IL ... I was diagnosed with a inguinal hernia. When I asked the doctor if I could still race the donut, he laughed and said that I was shut down for the season.
Truth be told, I hadn't been riding that much this past spring anyway. But when you are told you CAN'T ride, it really makes you want to ride even more. To top it off, the weather this summer in Chicago has been perfect riding weather almost every week!
The good news is now I have been cleared to ride!!
This past Tuesday, I went out and put in a short 7 miles and then this morning I put in a 20 mile ride! Anyone that knows me understands that I am not going to be putting hundreds of miles on my bike every week; with three kids and a wife to talk to, I just won't commit that time. But I'M BACK now and it's time to start riding and blogging again!
